There was a time when a little old place like Herne Bay could rustle up enough money, interest and organisation to have its very own air show. It started out small, with a couple of local planes and a flyby from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, but in time it grew to include the standard stars of the show – the last remaining flying Vulcan, the RAF’s parachute display team and, of course, the Red Arrows themselves. It was a sight to behold, as the usually sleepy seaside town bulged at its seams with happy onlookers.
And it was all free!
Unfortunately it doesn’t happen any more, but whilst it did we certainly made the most of it. Enjoy the couple of pictures here that I think made the grade.
