Reculver

Reculver Towers dominate the otherwise flat marshy landscape between Herne Bay and Margate on the north Kent coast. When built they were a mile or so inland, but after a few hundred years of erosion they sit precariously close to the cliff edge.

At golden hour they glow, and as the light gives out they stand as a couple of solid silhouettes against the quickly changing sky.

If you’re lucky you can explore inside (though it doesn’t take long). Check the English Heritage site for opening dates.
